Steven K. Aurand
Chairman and CEO
Mr. Aurand co-founded CAP Index, Inc. with Dr. Figlio in 1988. A computer specialist,
he has completed graduate studies in Criminology and Statistics at the Wharton School
of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of numerous professional organizations
and has published many articles. Mr. Aurand most recently co-authored Delinquency
in Puerto Rico: The 1970 Birth Cohort Study, Greenwood Press.
Jon D. Groussman, J.D.
President and COO
Groussman provides security management consulting services and risk/liability mitigation
solutions to private industry and the public sector and is also retained as an expert
witness in litigation charging negligent security. Mr. Groussman has conducted numerous
training seminars in the areas of security and premises liability. He has been an
instructor at Northeastern University where he taught courses in civil liability
and the legal aspects of security management.
Formerly, Mr. Groussman was the Vice President and Principal Consultant at Liability
Consultants, Inc. In addition, he has worked as a loss-prevention investigator for
Saks Fifth Avenue in Boston, Massachusetts, and has conducted private investigations
for firms in Boston and in Denver Colorado. He has also been employed as an investigative
aide to the Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration in New York and
Boston and has performed an internal investigation for the U.S. Customs Service.
Mr. Groussman received his Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University and Bachelor
of Science in Criminal Justice degree from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
He is a member of the American Society for Industrial Security
Dan E. Canfield
Senior Vice President, Operations
Mr. Canfield has been providing his expertise in cartography and programming to
CAP Index for over 15 years. In addition to overseeing the Production Department,
Dan creates custom software for many of our largest clients, including many premier
retailers and banks in the U.S., Canada and the UK. He is responsible for all database updates
to our database, enabling our clients to utilize the most up-to-date data possible,
along with automating maps.
As a former employee of the United States Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) in Washington
D.C., Mr. Canfield was responsible for top secret clearance projects, including
satellite imagery work on guidance systems for missile programs. In previous employment,
Dan was employed by a mapping company, where among other key responsibilities was
performing custom mapping services for Rand McNally.
Mr. Canfield received his B.A. in Geography, with a minor in Math and Computer Sciences,
from Rutgers College. Dan was certified in cartography, making him an expert in
map making.
